Dim Sum in China Town

My first post about food! Since I am Chinese I found it quite fitting for it to be about eating Dim Sum in a Chinese restaurant in China Town. Ever so slightly stereotypical...

To be honest I rarely go to eat dim sum these days as my parents prefer eating out for dinner so this was a discovery process for me. - that awkward moment when someone asks me which restaurant is the best in China Town and I stare blankly then shrug my shoulders in response - My choice of restaurant - Wan Chai Corner - ended up being a result of reading reviews which was not too bad in my opinion.

I was welcomed by eager staff that sent my boyfriend and I upstairs to the second floor. The walk up consisted of a wintery breeze but once i got to my seat I instantly forgot about the chilly journey. This is probably one of the smallest restaurants I've been to but it felt cosy and the staff was attendant, suggesting food without being too forceful (annoying). But most importantly - the food was nice.

A selection of the dim sum that I would suggest to first time tryers. From left to right:
Frame 1: Crispy Fried Noodles with Pork (肉絲炒麵) & Thai Style Spicy Chicken Claws (泰式鳳爪)
Frame 2: Curried Cuttlefish (咖哩墨魚仔), Prawn and Pork Dumplings (燒賣) & Steamed Pork Dumplings (上海小籠飽)
Frame 3: Char Siu Cheung Fun (叉燒腸粉)

If you are brave enough to attempt chicken claws then the Thai Style ones may be good as they don't have bones. Not the best that I have tried, I have tasted a better marinaded dish but it was decent. The cheung fun was really good though, the silkyness of the steamed rice roll was delicious matched with the roasted pork. Steamed Pork Dumplings should be eaten whilst they are warm and if possible whole so that you capture the internal juices. Dipping the dumplings in vinegar will enhance the taste!
Don't eat too fast. Dim sum should be eaten moderately and slowly appreciated (I think) and drinking tea can help your digestion and prevent against feeling bloated.
